Future in Green
Sustainable core insulation of a historic urban villa from the 1920s
In October 2024, a demanding refurbishment project near Osnabrück was successfully completed: the retrofitted core insulation of a historic urban villa from the 1920s. The goal was to significantly improve the building’s energy efficiency without affecting its architectural character or valuable structural fabric. Particularly in buildings from this era, blow-in insulation presents a special challenge—making the choice of a high-performance yet sustainable insulation material all the more important.
High insulation performance and sustainability with Insute 25-pro
The building owner placed great importance on insulation quality, durability, and the use of resource-efficient materials. After detailed consultation, Insute 25-pro was selected—a modern blow-in insulation material with an excellent thermal conductivity of 0.028 W/mK.
This material combines high insulation performance with sustainability and is ideally suited for retrofitted core insulation of cavity wall constructions.
Noticeable improvement in indoor climate
Immediately after the insulation was installed, a significantly improved indoor climate was noticeable. The interior walls felt warmer, and heat loss was effectively reduced. This became particularly evident on cooler autumn days: rooms heated up faster and retained warmth for longer.
Core insulation thus makes an important contribution to reducing energy consumption and heating costs.
Additional protection against noise and moisture
In addition to its excellent thermal insulation properties, Insute 25-pro also offers effective sound insulation. The villa is located on a busy road—after insulating the cavity, external noise was significantly reduced, noticeably increasing living comfort.
Another key advantage is effective moisture protection
The material regulates moisture within the masonry, prevents mould formation, and protects the historic structure in the long term. This aspect is particularly crucial for older buildings in order to preserve value and ensure a healthy indoor climate.
Core insulation as the key to future-proof buildings
With the installation of core insulation using Insute 25-pro, an important step was taken towards greater energy efficiency, sustainability, and long-term preservation of the building fabric—fully in harmony with the historic architecture and without any intervention in the façade.
