Insute

The Better Insulation

Insute is a high-performance, nanoporous insulation material that significantly reduces heat transfer through the Knudsen effect and achieves maximum insulation performance even at very thin layer thicknesses. Thanks to its stable, vapor-permeable structure and flexible installation properties, it is suitable for both modern building insulation and technical insulation applications where space is limited.

The growing importance of efficient thermal insulation

Given the growing importance of energy efficiency and sustainability, the insulation materials industry faces the challenge of developing insulating materials that meet increasingly stringent energy standards. At the same time, the construction sector is responsible for around 40% of total energy consumption and more than 30% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. To achieve the goals of the European Green Deal and significantly increase energy efficiency by 2030, insulation solutions are needed that are high-performance, cost-effective, and sustainable all the same time.

Nanoporosity as the basis of thermal insulation

The extraordinary insulating capacity of our material is based on the Knudsen effect. This occurs when pores are so small that gas molecules collide with the cell walls more frequently than with each other. As a result, directed heat transfer is prevented. With a pore size in the nanometer range - more than 1,000 times finer than that of conventional insulation materials - and with a large number of cell struts that separate the pores from one another, this effect is fully extent. The high number of struts also gives the material its special stability. Since even the smallest particles still contain several million pores, the material can be ground to customer specifications without losing its properties.

High performance with minimal material usage

Very low thermal conductivity

The nanometer-scale pores effectively reduce heat transfer.

Highly stable structure

The numerous fine cell walls give the material high mechanical stability despite its low density.

Vapor-permeable and water-repellent

The structure allows for unimpeded diffusion of water vapor while simultaneously preventing the penetration of liquid water.

Efficiency with low layer thickness

Due to its greatly reduced thermal conductivity, Insute achieves high insulation values even with thin layers. This enables space-saving designs in wall constructions and technical systems.

Wide range of applications in construction and engineering

Focus on building insulation

In the construction industry, Insute is primarily used as a lightweight and insulating aggregate, as well as in core insulation. Finely ground and processed into a nanoporous, open-cell foam granulate, Insute serves as a high-performance aggregate for insulating plasters. These plasters achieve thermal conductivity values below 0.04 W/mK, are vapor-permeable, and can therefore be used effectively indoors in a space-saving manner with a thin application.

In addition, Insute opens up further application possibilities in the building sector. As an aggregate, it is also suitable for the production of lightweight concrete, insulating screeds, and innovative building materials for 3D building printing.

For use in core insulation, the Insute material is specifically refined so that it can be safely and uniformly applied as a fine-grained blow-in insulation material even in narrow or irregular cavities. This creates a permanently effective and energy-efficient insulation layer.

Industrial Insulation

In addition to the construction industry, Insute is also suitable for industrial insulation applications. The material truly shines wherever high insulation performance is required in confined spaces. For example, in cold chain logistics, in the insulation of tanks and pipelines, in vacuum insulation panels, or in industrial processes that require precise temperature control, Insute can fully leverage its properties to provide efficient thermal insulation in a space-saving manner.
